The Corruption and Crime Commission has provided its ‘Report into allegations of serious misconduct by Councillors of the City of Perth between 21 and 24 October 2017’ to Parliament today (18 December 2017).

The report follows an investigation into allegations of serious misconduct against City of Perth Councillors James Limnios and Reece Harley.

The allegations relate to events that occurred between the announcement of local government election results late on Saturday 21 October and a special meeting of Council on Tuesday 24 October at which the Deputy Mayor was elected, and positions on committees allocated to Councillors.

As part of the investigation, the Commission took evidence in private examinations from every City of Perth Councillor, in addition to other relevant documentation and materials.

While the Corruption and Crime Commission generally reports to Parliament when it has formed an opinion of serious misconduct, there are times when the public interest is served in knowing that the Commission has thoroughly investigated an allegation, and either formed no opinion of serious misconduct or concluded there is no evidence of serious misconduct. This is such a case.

The Corruption and Crime Commission has formed no opinion on the allegation of serious misconduct against Councillor Limnios and found there is no evidence to support the allegations of serious misconduct against Councillor Harley.
